As the world’s leading city for tourism, Paris is conscious of its high profile and takes advantage of this to assert its values in the area of sustainable development, values which it has made commitments to through Agenda 21 and a Climate Plan.

The Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau gives assistance to tourism professionals, notably those involved in the meetings industry, in order to develop their eco-responsible practices.
Using the various standards and labels available in the events sector, clients and service providers are invited to work together to create new eco-responsible ways to welcome and dazzle guests attending future eco-designed events in Paris, with eco-responsible standards in accommodation, eating out, entertainment, getting around and communicating.



An event is a unique opportunity for dialogue and raising participants’ awareness of the challenges that sustainable development offers the plus values.

A few points for improving the eco-responsible content of events:
• Question the short, medium and long term effects on all of those involved in the event.
• Limit the production of waste.
• Oversee the eco-conception of the products and services chosen: think about the entire cycle from the conception to the end of life cycle, in order to optimize their use.
• Establish an active monitoring system with innovative technological solutions.
• Give preference to local service providers in order to limit transport, which is the biggest transmitter of CO2.
• Respect, at the very least, working and security regulations and conditions, whether for salaried or temporary employees, within the company and service providers.
