Resolutely international, wealth-creating and innovative, Paris Île-de-France has all the human, geographic, technological and cultural assets required to guarantee the success and rapid expansion of business projects in Europe.
It comes first in terms of international companies opening new offices:
- 200 new registrations of foreign companies each year
- 10,000 direct jobs, and
- 14,000 indirect jobs over three years.
Second European financial market after London, Paris Île-de-France is also renowned for its financial expertise.
The Paris Region Economic Development Agency was set up to match businesses' needs and the regional offer. PREDA has five key remits set out in a contract between the regional council and the Agency :
- Promote the economic attractiveness of the Region abroad
- Attract foreign investors to Paris Region
- Coordinate the marketing of the regional offer
- Help investors prior to and during their location to Paris Region
- Support areas facing economic changes

The Paris Île-de-France region has the highest R&D concentration in Europe. It is a European centre of excellence in training and education:
- more than 600,000 students
- 136,000 researchers and technicians
- in 17 universities and
- more than 350 higher education establishments.
Thanks to an exceptional network of infrastructure and facilities, it is the largest platform in Europe for hospital services and clinical
Tests.
Recognizing the importance of these sectors, the Paris City Council is investing one billion
euros between 2008 and 2014 in innovation, the universities, and research.
