Around 45% of tourists in Paris come on business – whether it is for a meeting, a business event or a professional event.
Every year, 450 or so trade fairs and trade shows are held in Paris, drawing some 10 million visitors and 100,000 exhibiting companies; more than 900 congresses bring between 600,000 and 700,000 participants to Paris. Associations organizing a congress that rotate internationally find that on average attendance goes up by 20% when the event is held in Paris. Not only does Paris attract congresses – it keeps them.
In 2011, the Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau made a detailed study of congresses that had chosen to stay in Paris over the last four years: between 2007 and 2010, average attendance grew by 36%.
Every year, thirty or so congress organizers choose Paris for their first event. To attract these decision-makers, economic players and institutionals have established a global and customizable hospitality plan. The secret of Paris’s attractiveness is undoubtedly due to its capacity to surprise, by offering professional infrastructures of the first order in a unique setting combining elegance, culture, history and modernity.
