Green spaces, non-motorized transport, eco-districts … living in Paris is good |

A survey of green cities in Europe, published in 2009, ranked Paris in the top 10 cities with a strong ecological conscience.
The City’s transport policy works to introduce less-polluting public transport, and a reduction in car traffic in favour of non-motorized (Vélib’) or non-polluting (Autolib’) transport, etc. With the adoption of Agenda 21, Paris has provided itself with the means to meet the economic, social and environmental challenges of the 21st century.
This programme of initiatives applying the principles of sustainable development expects to see a 30% reduction in CO2 emissions between now and 2020.
Encouraged by the City, Parisian professionals are gradually incorporating sustainable development into their offer – which now includes the organization of eco-events.
What’s more, the City works to reinforce social cohesion and solidarity and to promote diversity. In order to enable disabled people to get around with ease, it seeks to make public places (streets, parks and gardens, cultural sites, etc.) and public transport accessible.
